Griffon 2400TD Hovercraft
« on: February 03, 2019, 08:27:21 PM »
I've been working on a new model hovercraft for the last couple of weeks as I decided I'd like to get something built in a reasonably short time frame that I can sail, and a hovercraft is relatively quick to build...

The Griffon 2400TD is used as a fast attack craft by the Royal Marines.

Further progress on my 2400TD this week. The rear thrust duct, which will be permanently attached to the model, and the front section which lifts off in one piece - located on a couple of dowels at the rear and either canopy catches or magnets at the front. You can see that I STILL haven't got the lift duct installed! Hopefully that will be next!

Regards
Eddy

No huge changes over the last week, work keeps getting in the way. But the ring around the gun hatch has been made, the rear steps up to the lift intake are fitted, headlight cutouts done and boxes fitted behind, and lastly I have eventually managed to get the lift duct sorted!

Regards
Eddy

The start of the radar mast and the forward gun shield, as well as the side deck supports added to the hull.

The current state of my Griffon 2400TD - Hull given 1 coat of colour (I only had one can of paint so it needs more coats!) and the superstructure is now in primer. More details to add and then lots of rubbing down and filling, but it's getting there slowly!

A bit more progress on my hovercraft... Although it's got it's base colour on now, this needs to be changed for some satin or matt finish to look right, this is too glossy!
