Stereing competition 10th May
« on: May 10, 2018, 08:13:32 PM »
Just a reminder- steering comp on Sunday run by our competition sec Dave Nell. The details have been up in the clubhouse for over a week and it looks a real corker. Should sort out those who can from those who can't. A double reverse!!!  I meant to ask Dave what we have done to deserve that! That's not to mention the new pointer trial! :) ;) :D
model boats are great fun, the faster the better.Floating kettles are interesting

Following a stressful day on Saturday running a chess congress I went to bed after looking at the weather forecast thinking we would have to cancel the steering competition. As seems the norm these days the forecasters did not get it right and we were able to enjoy an enjoyable morning free from rain or indeed any wind. Not many competitors but that that did not spoil the fun. Barry has a large boat that gives him  good starting points and he drove it well free from any mistakes to give him the win. Ernie has a slightly smaller boat thus has slightly less starting points as does Bob; both had clear rounds.
Dave Nells course was interesting and a challenge, in rougher water it may have caught out the top three.

Result
1st Barry Watkins 10 points
2nd Ernie Lazenby   8
3rd Bob Golder        6
4th Ken Smailes      4
5th Dave Moss        2
6th John Bailey     1
