weeding programme
« on: October 10, 2017, 09:18:33 AM »
If the weather is okay in the morning we will do an hour weeding from 9.0am. The left hand side is where we will be working.

Clarification:  The far side of the reservoir from east to west along the entire length will remain untouched other than making sure the areas near the far bouys are clear.  Other than that we will attempt to remove as much as we can from other areas during the coming months.
It has been suggested by a member we clear the top right hand corner for use by scale boats when fast electrics are running however that is not going to happen. The system we have is working well and will continue. (slot system used with a degree or two of common sense).

Further applications of the blue dye will be done in early spring.

I am back in the saddle following my chess playing exploits at the weekend. I remain unbeaten  this season but just missed out on the main prize money scoring 31/2 from 5. :(
Anyway to more important matters. If the weather is okay on Wednesday morning we will do a bit more weeding.

To prevent repetition on this subject;  assume we will be doing weeding each Wednesday from around 9.0am if sufficient folk turn up!

I will be ordering more blue dye at the end of the month. A small number of members don't think its any use however rest assured without it we would not be able to sail. Its a big supplement to the small number of members who help with the weeding which we will need to get on with again once the weather warms up.

 WEDNESDAY 21st March 9.30am onwards

We will do some more weeding if the weathers not too bad. After that I will put in the blue dye if the waters not too cold.
 All help is appreciated.

Today we removed quite a bit of weed from the right hand side. Many thanks to all helpers.
Same next week.
It was too cold to pout the blue dye in, will try on Sunday.

Gents. Work needed on some weeds- Wednesday 27th June 9.,0am onwards.

The blue dye has helped but the water level has dropped due to the dry spell and some weed is trying to stay alive by getting to the sun light we need to stop such determined efforts!

A massive thank you to those who turned up today to do the weeding. Ian, Mike G, Rick, Dave M and Malcolm worked from 9.30 until midday to clear the jetty side of the lake. One or two others also did a bit to help. Great, well done lads. :)

If this very hot weather continues we are going to see the water level at our pond drop significantly thus rendering the blue dye less effective in stopping the green menace. I cannot apply any more blue dye this year. This week is race week therefore weeding is not an option. Next week we will have to have another go at it however I suspect unless we get some rain soon the yachts are going to struggle.

Wednesday 11tth July.     Last week we could not run the yacht races due to lack of wind therefore they will be run on Wednesday 11th at 1.0pm

We need to do the weeding shortly after 9.0am for about 90 minutes thus allowing time for the weed we cut/drag out to clear before the yacht races. Also we will have to do some strimming back of the grass surrounding the pond on the jetty side primarily. The club has a petrol strimmer however if anyone has a petrol strimmer please turn up with it and help. The club has one set of safety glasses. We can probably do  the strimming after the yacht racing.

Once again a big thank you to the team that turned up yesterday to do the weeding. Ian, Nat, Mike, Rick, Malcolm.
The level of the water is really becoming low but so far the weed is not causing the yachts a problem.

The local idiots had moved one of the big buoys into the sump and it took some lifting and dragging back into place but we managed.

Most of you will have noticed the grass on the jetty side of our pond has been cut down- big thank you due to Mike Craddock for doing that out of club time. Thank you Mike.
