The club was formed in late 1982 when the Teesside Model Boat Club split up over a choice of sailing water. The new club continued to use their original sailing water which was No. 2 Reservoir in Middleton Water Park, a former reservoir in the village of Middleto St George.

The lake we use is 88 by 85 metres and 1.5 to 2 metres deep. There is an ideal launching and landing stage about 4 metres long. The club also has a brick built building which contains a club room, toilet, and storage and building area.

Sailing/meetings are held on Wednesdays from around 9.0am until 4.0pm and Sunday mornings 8.0am until mid day. Membership numbers vary but there are around 40 fully paid up active members. Membership fee is £50 PA adult. £5 for a junior. Third party public liability insurance is included.

The club holds a one day annual reggata for members; an enjoyable day of model boating that embodies a number of events covering all types of model boats.
